B12 Back In Action, PLUS, NEW ARRIVAL!!!
Yes!
After almost a year out-of-action, the wheel problems on the B12 have finally been resolved, and so therefore it is now back in action!
Further to this, as some of you may have seen from the new stock list, we have also acquired a GWR Railcar, in original GWR livery with "Shirtbutton" logos. It is Number 24, and has been put straight into use. It will be very handy for mid-week services, sharing with the 25 and 20, both with a single coach, the service of the line between Kingsford and Crystal Bay.
Pictures will follow soon...

A new Shunter...
We are pleased to announce, that today, another 08 Shunter, No. 08419, has arrived at the railway. This will allow our other resident 08, No. 08375, to go for an overhaul - it has now been lifted from it's wheelsets.
In other news, Brake Van rides are currently suspended, as is the Mk. 2 coach, as an emergency works train has had to be taken to a section of 4-Track Mainline for some emergency repairs. This will not effect other services, however there may be a small delay.

Kingsford Gains a new Platform!!!
Yes! Kingsford now has 4, yes, FOUR platforms!
After nuch pain staking work from volunteers, the platform was opened at the Thomas Day, with the first train into the platform being the Virgin Trains Rake. Driver Jack Gordon was very pleased!
Kingsford now has One Bay Platform, One Up Platform, One Down Platform, and One Bi-Directional Platform.
This amazing feat was achievd by moving the station back, and extending Platform One (The old Bay Platform) through to the mainline. This became Platform 2. A new platform has been built alongside the station, and this is now Platform One Bay.
Platform 2&3 have become 3&4.
Kingsford is now teeming at the seams, and is a hive of activity! All we need now is for the mainline to re-open through to Forbes!

GWR Pannier Tank
The Pannier Tank has been declared unfit for service by HMRI today. On inspection of it's exterior, major cracks were found - and that was before even looking inside the boiler. The boiler is pretty much completely corroded, meaning that we are down another loco. Luckily, with the arrival of BR 238, it shouldn't be too bad. The revised stock rakes are as follows:

A dip in the archives... and a few new pics
Yes! It's that time again, when we dip into the vast photo collection and publish some here. This months selection can be seen below. All are captioned.
1. This is one of the many Plate Layers Huts on the Railway, used for various purposes. This particular one is an S&T dump, thus the Brakevan in the background!
2. This is a view towards Crystal Bay from Platform 2. The Carmine and Cream stock was in 3-Car formation for a private charter.
3. Kingsford Station... Isn't it lovely with it's prototypical Station Signs?
4. The WHSmith on Platform 3. Anyone want to buy a paper? (Actually, it is now the gift shop!)
5. The new loco taken from the end of Platform 2.
6. An overview of the Loco Yard - Can you spot which loco is which?Send your answers to kingsfordstation@gmail.com, and if they are correct you could win a driving course with either D8135, 47845, 08375, 80, 7 or Thomas!

Two New Features...
We present to you, in Beta format, the Blog Search and the new & improved monthly poll!
The poll will change every month, to something relevant to the Railway's improvement, and the search feature will replace the old archive. You can now search any term you want, and then choose the correct one from a range of options.
Please do be aware that these features are only in Beta mode, so we may experience some difficulty due to teething problems. The trial period will last until the 12th August, whence we will make a decision on how to continue.

66200 Departs...
66200 has departed, along with all 4 Intermodal wagons, the two P&O containers, one Hamburg Sud container, and the shell tanker, with a full tank of fuel.
The 66200 is also full of fuel, in an aim to reduce costs for the SVR.

66200 has gone... Well, on Monday!
The Mainline Diesel Gala is over, and now the coach sidings have been taken over by the 66, and the intermodal wagons, ready for road transportation on Monday.
The Brake Van ride currently includes a tour of the loco, so hurry!
The Severn Valley Railway are slowly returning to normal, but they need about 1 million quid to return the line to it's former glory. You can donate at www.svr.co.uk
The loco is currently due to return at the end of July, which is the earliest EWS can lend a loco, but it may be earlier as Freightliner, GBRF and DRS have all offered locos, but it may be later for the same reasons.

Imminent Arrival of New Loco - BR Green 0-4-0 Locomotive No.328
A new loco is due to arrive imminently at the railway. It is in BR Green livery, and is number 328. It is another 0-4-0. As a result of our growing number of 0-4-0s, we are starting a new department to look after these locomotives.
They will be based in Kingsford TMD until the shed is built at Crystal Bay, although one will always be kept for the Kingsford Yard Attractions etc.

66200 and the Severn Valley Railway
As a lot of you will probably know, the Severn Valley Railway has been severley damaged by several landslips. As a result, both the SVR and EWS have contacted us to ask if they can borrow/move the Class 66 to the SVR temporarily. The container flats will also temporarily leave. The reason for this is that our Class 66 is the only EWS example not required in the Capital Stock. Rather than having to replace a loco with one of the special Class 37's, or loaning one from a different operator, we have decied to send our Class 66 to the SVR. We figured we didn't really need it at the moment, and that they need it a lot!
The loco will leave next monday, and we will be running a Mainline Diesel Gala to show that we will miss the loco. More details will appear soon, but it is currently envisaged to have the 66, 58, 47 and 08 in operation. If possible, the NSE DMU might also be brought down from Forbes.

Teddy Bear Days
Following the discovery of an abandoned mine shaft, the northern part of the line will have to remain as seperate for our Warring Forties Weekend. However, we will be operating Teddy Bear Days using the NSE DMU during this time.
Prices are as normal Special Events, howver children can get in free if they bring a teddy bear!

Warring Forties Special Event
Warring Forties? Event? Are these some of the questions you ask? Well, yes we are doing a warring forties event this year. Even though we only have about 5 locos that could carry out this service, and 2 Mk.1 and one other rake available, we are sure that this event will be a huge success. And we can always add on one or two extra services using the 58 and the Blue/Grey. There will be an excuse for it!
Troop Trains, Goods Trains, Repair Trains, Evacuee Trains, any type of train you can think of will be operating. Share a train with German Soldiers, Watch the engineers rush into action as they strive to keep the network running, and see what it was like to be an evacuee leaving London bound for the country.
All this and more, only at the Crystal Bay and Kingsford Railway.
Prices for the event are £1.50, Adults, £1, Concessions, and 50p, Children.
Brake Van Rides and the Mk.2 Coach Tour will operate as normal in the yard, however on a special timetable, which is subject to change, due to the modern appearance of the stock - we don't want any NSE in the war zone!
Please Note that the event will be taking place on the Kingsford-Crystal Bay section. This is due to the engineering works which have discovered a large abandoned mine shaft under the tracks. The DMU will be operating a 'Teddy Bear Weekend' on this section of line, and can be read about elsewhere.

The naming of...
Hi all,
Just thought i'd let you all know that we are going to purchase a new Steam Loco, and call it Foxton Manor, after the School that recently closed down there.
Also, what does everyone think about getting another 'Manor', and calling it Little Kingsford Manor, after the school there?
We would end up with two new locos, and two steam ones at that, all with loco(l) ties!

We would end up with two new locos, and two steam ones at that, all with loco(l) ties!

Mistakes...
Once again, I'm rambling on about us making mistakes, and I don't even bother writing the message correctly!
But, I'mm going to leav the mistakes, to show you how much of a wally we all can be.

Aren't we silly?
There's us thinking that there's a problem with the 20, but in actual fact, it didn't have any fuel in it! Therefore, the main service hauled by the 20 and 25 will be resumed, and the 58 will continue to haul the other service. We have enough motive power to operate the Breakvan Rides, and jsut enough to occasionally operate the Mk. 2, and with the 66 being released, the Demo Goods can be resumed.
So, there you have it - we all make mistakes!

Another Withdrawal...
Yes, unfortunately we have had to withdraw another loco, but this time due to a compulsory overhaul..
The GWR pannier tank has had to be withdrawn for inspections to renew it's boiler ticket, which lasts ten years. It's cam to an end today.
We hop to have this loco back in action soon, but please note that the Mk. 2 Coach Yard tour, demo goods and brake van rides have all had to be suspended to due stock problems.
This also warrants a reduced price.

The New Service at Kingsford... The Mk. 2 Coach Yard Tour
I bet you were wondering what we purchased that Mk. 2 Coach for. You were weren't you? Well, we're going to start a new service, where you get on the coach, which gets pushed around the yard at Kingsford by a heritage locomotive. At certain points, the propelling loco will be needed on other duties. Therefore, the loco will detach, and you will remain in the yard. If this wait is longer than 5 minutes, you will be allowed to get off the coach, and walk around in the marked area. If it is going to be longer than 20 minutes, then the train will be taken to the nearest platform, where you can disembark, and can look around the area. If necessary, we can arrange a bus to take you to the station. Please inform the ticket inspector of this.
This coach is also available for party hire. Drop us a line at kingsfordstation@gmail.com and let us know of your details.
**Please Note** From time-to-time, it may be necessary for this coach to be used elsewhere, such as on hire, and in this event then the spare Mk. 1 coach will be used. Please enquire if travelling to ride on this specific coach.

A4 Silver Link and Class 25
Unfortunately, this loco is again out-of-service, due to tender problems. The Class 25 has also been called into the shop to finally get the ETH repaired.
This now means that we have only 2 diesels, and 3 small steam locos available for service, as the DMU is operating the service beyond the engineering works.
So, the current timetable/working oreder is as follows:
Class 58 and Blue/Grey
Class 0F, GWR Pannier and Southern 0-4-0 and Carmine and Cream
A demonstration goods will not operate, however the 08 will do some light shunting in the yard at Kingsford. Good views of this can be seen from the Mk. 1 Yard Shuttle, our new service explained elsewhere, or from the lineside.
Please note that there are limited seats in the 20-Ton and Toad brake vans which will be in use with the shunting.
Please enquire for train times - kingsfordstation@gmail.com
Thanks,
Jack

The Diesel day... or what there was of it...
Well, yesterday's diesel day was a bit of a disaster. The services started late at 12 instead of the posted 10, due to a problem with the 47's ETH. The 20 refused to start, blocking in the maroon stock, so the 25 soldiered on with an under-refurbishment Carmine&Cream set. Then, the 66 was required to be used on a works train to try and get the Kingsford-Togton section of the line re-opened, so the 58 was put on the demo goods instead. This left the 08, and a cold VT set. In the end, the 47 was used on the VT set, but with the generator van in use, meaning that the services culd only be half the posted time. The 08 soldiered on with the brake van rides using the Toad, and in the end, the 0F and he Pannier Tank were used to haul the Blue/Grey set, simply to keep up with the demand.
So, all in all, trains are mainly going to be using the 25, A4, and Pannier for the forseeable future. Members will fnd out any developments first, so if you're not yet signed up, then drop us a line at kingsfordstation@gmail.com

Closure of the Railway
Dear All,
I am afraid that we have had to temporarily had to suspend ALL services and close the layout, with immediate effect.
This has come about due to the need for a new layout (Name TBC) to be taking the space currently used by Kingsford.
Kingsford WILL return, and in the meantime, updates will still be posted here if things happen.
The New Layout can be found at www.mysterylayout.blogspot.com, and things will be added in due course, however, it will not contain as many features as the current website.
So far, we know the following about the new layout:
*It is Based In London
*It is a station on a main line, as has many interconnecting lines (Underground, Overground 3rd Rail, and Overground Catenary, as well as, perhaps, a Diesel Only Freight Line), such as WILLESDEN JUNCTION
*There will probably be an MPD, or similar.
*It is mainly Modern Image, however it can be operated back to NSE.
That's all we know so far. If you want to tell us more (by inventing a history!), then email us @ kingsfordstation@gmail.com

Network SouthEast Mark Two Coach
We have just recieved a Mark 2 NSE Coach (in a rather filthy condition), from a mainline depot.
It is our plan to get another coach, which will be used with our new (currently unconfirmed) Class 50.
It is our intention to keep the stock dirtied, and to run it as Central London stock, as it would have been.
Pics will be posted SOON!

Thomas and Percy
Well,
Thomas has been fixed, and Percy has returned from the EVR.
These will now be running trains during our Easter Specials, with Percy on Demonstration Goods, and Thomas on Passenger trains.
They will be in Kingsford Station head shunt during next weekends Diesel Event, with a possibility of being moved o the Car Park for photographic opportunities.
Thomas will also be double-heading one train with Percy during the Easter event, and maybe during our Diesel Event with Diesel!

A4 No. 60014 'Silver Link' and Revised timetable
Well,
Luckily, we are not going to have to implement the revised timetable as stated previously! The A4 returned from overhaul today, and, following it's test's tommorrow, we hope to be able to push it back into service. Therefore, we can have three (maybe four!) full line trains running, aswell as 2 shuttles, the Forbes Junction Shuttle from Kingsford to Forbes, and the Foxton Shuttle, from Kingsford Yard to Foxton Tunnel.
The trains will be operated by:
Virgin Trains Class 47, 2x Mk. 2s, and 1x VDA, all three of which are in Virgin Trains - Runs non-stop through Seinfar Stadium (Kinsgford) - Starts at Kingsford
BR Green Class A4, 2x Mk. 1s in Carmime and Cream - All Stations - Starts at Crystal Bay
BR Green Class 20, 2x Mk. 1s in Blue/Grey - Starts at Forbes Jnct
BR Blue Class 08, 2x 4-Wheelers in GWR Choc/Cream - Foxton Shuttle
Maroon Class OF, 2x Mk. 1s in Maroon - Forbes Junction Shuttle - Runs non-stop through Seinfar Stadium (Kingsford)
If Carriages can be made available, then the Class 58 or the Pannier and 0-4-0 will haul the fourth train.
This timetable is subject to change, when the DMU arrives.
Please email us with any suggestions, and please ring ahead if coming to see a specific loco, as it may not be possible to do this.
Regards,
Jack

WITHDRAWAL
Hi all,
I am sorry to announce that, due to unforeseen circumstances, the B12 will be out of action until further notice, due to front axle problems.
The 25 has also had to be withdrawn for ETH repairs.
This means that the 66 is now on Works trains, and the 58 and 08 will be on service trains.

2007 Releases
Well,
I've now had time to get my head around all of the 2007 releases from Bachmann, Hornby, Heljan and Dapol.
So far, the most tempting ones are:
Bachmann Class 108 DMU
Bachmann Class 37
Hornby Class 121
Hornby GWR Railcar
Heljan Class 17 (Clayton)
Heljan Falcon (BR Prototype - Class 47 origins)
Possibly a new Heljan Class 58
On the Rolling Stock front, I'm thinking about pretty much any coach that would operate on a Heritage Railway, and with the Freight front, i'm probably going to get some items that we can marshal into demonstration freight trains, and to supplement those we already have.
If anyone has any ideas etc, then please don't hesitate to contact us, and the usual address (kingsfordstation@gmail.com)

Guest Book and Hit Counter
Hi everyone,
I've just added a hit counter and a Guestbook. I hope that they are not too obstructive. All thoughts can be directed through the Guest Book, by marking it as a private message.
Does anyone else have any ideas as to what e can add to the site. I contemplated a message board, but thought that it wouldn't be used enough. I have however added one for a trial.
Also, is the Yahoo Answers thingy at the top too much? I've added it because moat of my q and a's are about trains, but let me know what you think!
All thoughts welcome,
Jack

Class 108 DMU Update
Hi all,
The latest on the Class 108 DMU Fund, is that we have £20 towards this, which has a total cost of £70, for the transport and costs of buying it. It will probably be a bot more for the nameplates.
The DMU will be owned by the CBKRA, although all donators will have a share of it.
This is a very nice project, and we are looking forward to the final result (a working DMU!!!)

Progress
Hi all,
Quite a lot has happened since i last published a progress report, so this one is quite long. The main developments are that another bew layout has been devised for the layout, Station Signs have been installed, and a number of funds have been set up.
The main fund we are pushing towards this month is the Lorraine and Jim DMU fund, which we need £60 pounds for. We will be bying a NSE Class 108 DMU, which will operate the bulk of our Winter Services, allowing the Diesels to be withdrawn for overhaul, and to allow longer for the A4 and B12 to be overhauled. The B12 has nearly reached the end of it's boiler ticket, so this comes as a blessing, meaning that we won't be caught off guard when this finally happens!
Other funds that we currently have running, are:
The Wirksworth Stock Fund (For our future Layout of Wirksworth Station, and the buying and repainting of stock to sell in the shop.)
The Class 50 Fund
The Steam Fund
The Track Fund
The Station Fund
The Station Signs that we have installed have been mentioned elsewhere, although I hope to put some pictures online. We purchased Station Signs, Destination Boards and Poster Boards. The details can be seen in the above post.
And finally, probably the most sustantial development since the last progress report is a complete re-design of the track plan. This now means that the layout is a circular one, althpugh it reatins a yard, and 3 Platforms, and even now has a proper stub for the incline, which currently looks after the odd wagon, or a small Shunter. The fiddle yard is now at the back, and the entrance to the yard is part of the fiddle system. One of the main advantages of the new yard is that we have 3 3-coach or 3-car DMU roads, and four locomotive roads, that will fit between 1 and 4 locos. We now hope to be able to service Steam Locos here. Also, Platform 4 is now for the yard tour, and the occasional special to somewhere on the line. This is also where all works trains will depart from on operating days.
As a result of the circular layout, we now need a revised line plan. Therefore, as of February 16th, the following plan will come into action, along with revised timetable featured elsewhere.
N.B (#) = Platforms [#] = Main Running Roads into / out of the station {#} = Number of bay Platforms
Crystal Bay (3) [2] {3}
>>
Togton (3) [2] {1}
>>
Halwich (2) [2] {0}
>>
Foxton (0) [2] {0}
>>
Kingsford (3) [2] {1}
>>
Seinfar Stadium (Kingsford) (4) [4] {2}
>>
Forbes Junction (4) [2] {0}
A new timetable will also come into effect, however it is subject to change due to the arrival of a DMU.
Can all CBKRA members please note that we urgently need to speak to you. Therefore could you contact us ASAP.
Also, if you want to find out about a top secret project that's coming to the railway, then join up to one of the e-group!!!
Well, that's all for now,
Jack

N.B (#) = Platforms [#] = Main Running Roads into / out of the station {#} = Number of bay Platforms
Crystal Bay (3) [2] {3}
>>
Togton (3) [2] {1}
>>
Halwich (2) [2] {0}
>>
Foxton (0) [2] {0}
>>
Kingsford (3) [2] {1}
>>
Seinfar Stadium (Kingsford) (4) [4] {2}
>>
Forbes Junction (4) [2] {0}

Google Group - CB&K
Adding onto my post about the Yahoo Group, for those of you who don't have a yahoo account, then i've also set up an identical group using Google Groups.
You will receive exactly the same stuff, but in a different format. I may eventually switch so that only 1 group exists, but i will let everyone know if that is going to happen.

CBKRA Formed
Hi everyone,
I've formed the Crystal Bay and Kingsford Railway Association. This is now going to deal with memberships, leaving the CB&K to deal with the operating side.
As a result, any members need to re-register, but there is no need to send any more money.
New members should email us at the correct address.

Station Signs...
Well, they've arrived! The long awaited Kingsford Station signs from Jeff Duke at www.stationsigns.co.uk.
They're absoulutely fantastic, and not only are there station signs, but there are destination boards and poster boards too!
I hope to put some pictures of these up aswell as one of the new Station Building, both befored and after the installation of the signs.
On a different note, i've set up a Yahoo Group for the railway, which can be joined at the bottom of the page, and there is also a poll to be found by pressing here!

New layout for the station
Well, once again, the yard has been completely re-designed. The car park is now over by where the future Foxtonshop incline will start, which at the moment is a short stub that is used as the car park station.
The carriage depot has two sidings, as does the loco depot. There are several sidings for the goods stock, but they are yet to be designated.
Finally, there is now a loco layover for steam, but it is awaiting a shed etc.
All the best,
Jack

New Station building for Kingsford!
Well, it's finally my birthday, and with that came a new station building, and a points decoder, aswell as some platelayer's huts so i can finally attach my Peco point motors to the layout.
Unfortunately i have misplaced my USB cable for my camera. Until i find it, i am going to try plan b to get some pics online - using my mobile.
I promise that the layout does exist, and that i am not just making excuses!

New additions to the layout
Finally! The layout is now DCC! Half the locos have decoders in them, and all points are operated by DCC!
Also, we have some personalised station signs and posters, courtesy of www.stationsigns.co.uk
Another addition is two platform shelters downloaded off scalescenes.com, and to say they are free, they're excellent!
Sorry for not putting any photos online. I WILL GET ROUND TO IT SOON!!!
